Band

Students participating in band perform music of various cultures, languages, genres, and time periods. Students learn proper instrumental technique, music vocabulary, and basic music theory.

Besides concert band during the school day, seventh and eighth grade students have the opportunity to participate in optional pep and jazz bands.

Students in all three grades perform in two concerts throughout the year, each at Wainwright Middle School.

Eighth-grade band members represent Wainwright Middle School at the TSC Southside Band Festival and ISSMA organizational contest. Additionally, the eighth grade band travels to James Cole Elementary and Dayton Elementary Schools to perform for the student body each spring.

In addition to the Wainwright Middle School band performances, individual players may also choose to participate in the ISSMA Solo & Ensemble Contest.
