General Music

General music students take a journey through music history. Beginning with the Middle Ages and continuing through the twenty-first century, students learn about the composers and instruments that help create a musical culture. Students study the music of different cultures and how these genres evolved into what we listen to today.

Students also learn the basics of music theory. The construction of simple melodies and rhythms are explored each year, adding skills and vocabulary as students move through middle school.
